We live in a loft, with no room for a proper kitchen table. Having no kids,
we're just on the
couch -- but of course he's there on the couch with us. He's very well
behaved, and we're
not constantly feeding him, but treat calories add up.

We've been very judicious about treats, and we're lucky he likes vegetables --
so we slice the
stems of broccoli and cauliflower, heck, he even likes cabbage core, and he's
nuts about fruit
(he's a great disposer of apple cores and fruit tidbits). I've heard that
rice cakes (broken up
into small pieces, of course) are a good option, too. But since we often eat
foods that are
unsuitable for him (spicy curry comes to mind) I was wondering if someone had a
recipe for
doggie treats we could have around that were REALLY low calorie.

When we got him from the SPCA (in February) he was a little underweight, but it
only took us
about 2 months to get him to the point he has a nice, even, reasonable layer of
fat (just
enough to obscure the lines of his ribs). Now, we are concerned about making
him fat over
the long term, especially since the vet warned us fixed males are prone to
weightgain.

It's not an issue yet, but I want to avoid having to put him on a diet. As an
owner, it's my
responsibility to keep track of this stuff -- his job is to just be cute. I
tried a google search,
but only found one that indicated it was low cal.
