My chi, Lupita, also walks that way. However, the problem is with her back not the hips. If there is compression of the disc material between the vertebrae, it interferes with the nerve messaging system that controls their movement. Steroids such as prednisone and strict crate rest may help the problem. Do not allow him to jump up on furniture or go up and down steps. Good luck with your little guy :-) -- em
