My two chis were terrified to get their nails cut once upon a time as well.
What I did to break that was, I first started laying them (one at a time of
course) on my lap on their backs. I would rub their bellies and would say "good
girl". When or if they tried to get up from my lap I would say shhhht or no and
hold them down gently with one hand until they would relax and say "good girl"
and rub their bellies again. I would do this everyday for about 2 weeks until
they got that they were to relax when I layed them down like this. After they
got that they had to stay in this position I would start with the clippers, do
one toe and then rub and say "good". I just cut a little off, not to hurt them
or scare them, and once I cut a little bit off I would file the rest of it
down. I don't have to file too much for the one that has white nails as I can
clearly see the quick, but the other one has black toe nails so I can not see
the quick so I have to cut it
just a tiny bit and file the rest. It is not so bad and doesn't take too long
to file. It works really good. Evelyn
