i always fed my chis a slop a mixture of hard dog food mixed with canned dog
food and evaporated milk and water (half and half) and let the pups and mom eat
together sometimes dog wont eat untill they see an other dog eat.I always kept
one of my chis from my first chi and she would nurse them for months after the
rest were gone but then again she would nurse any pup that tried to nurse off
her. she is a GREAT MOM and old

last pup. He never touched food till he was nearly 9 weeks old....and still
didn't stop nursing till he was 12 weeks old!! Drove me nuts and I tried
everything...the moist puppy food, can, pouch with gravy. He would occasionally
eat a cheese curl, lol. Thankfully, by the time he left last week at 13 weeks
old, he was eating and leaving the milk bar alone. Some are just spoilt. If
they seem healthy otherwise, I would just be patient. Separate them from mom
for periods of time and hopefully mom will get fed up and make them
stop.....Ginger never did and even allowed her older pup from the previous
litter to try to nurse! sighhhhh lol. I have heard a lot of people swear by
anything chicken when it comes to stubborn eaters.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] PLEASE NEED HELP WEANING MY CHIS!

I HAVE A LITTER OF CHIHUAHUAS THAT WILL BE 7 WEEKS OLD WEDNESDAY. I
HAVE ALREADY TRIED TO WEAN THEM. I HAVE TRIED MOISTENED PUPPY FOOD AND
ALSO SOFT PUPPY FOOD WITH GRAVY FROM A POUCH. THEY TURN THEIR NOSES
UP AT IT. MY LAST TWO LITTERS DID GREAT AND I HAD NO PROBLEM
WHATSOEVER GETTING THEM TO EAT. BUT THESE TWO BABIES SURE ARE
STUBBORN! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT ELSE I CAN DO TO GET THESE LITTLE GUYS
TO WANT TO START TO EAT? ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THE
NEW OWNERS UNDERSTAND AND WANT WHAT IS BEST FOR THEM AND KNOW THEY HAVE
TO WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE EATING WELL ON THEIR OWN. I AM GOING TO WAIT
UNTIL THEY ARE 8 WEEKS OLD OR OLDER BEFORE I LET THEM COME AND GET
THEM.
