I think we are experiencing one of those cases where what people are meaning to
say is not really coming clear in their emails. Mare, I honestly do not think
she was trying to criticize you personally or anything...although it does sound
a little that way....I think she is just trying to express her opinion about
stuff. Angela....like I said, I don't think you intend the tone that your email
has taken, but just so we all know and can avoid any issues, can you please
clarify if I am right or not??? That you were not trying to personally condemn
Mare or anything.....?

Marsha

I'm not saying that it's not a good ideal im only saying someone
wanting to get one may not want to spend the time or money to feed them that
and if you feed any dog that stuff that is refusing to eat dog food what are
you going to do when the person buying the chi does not want to do all that you
take the chance that they may give it up to someone not approved by you and as
a breeder I like to make sure my little guys go to a good home i would not want
to risk the chance that my babies could end up in the wrong hands or even worse
in the pound all because i feed my chi something that is other than dog food
and if i had a chi that i would have to feed somthing like that i would make
sure that it would eat reg. dog food befor i sold it my chi are my babies un
like you i dont have a bunch of dog to care for all my chi are house pet and
ARE NEVER PUT IN A CAGE.. that includes the pups they become apart of my family
Im there the min they are borned and there with me till i feel that they are
sound enought to take the stress of being sold and not a min. sooner I,m not in
it for the money im in it for the love of the breed and to bring happyness to
people looking for a well stabled chi that is people friendly not scared of
them because they were in a cage there whole life with little human contact.
no disrespect for the people who have kennels it not that there bad i just dont
care for caging an animal.

And I may get kicked off this group for stating my opinion but
hey good men and women fought for my freedom of speech and I am gonna say what
I feel.
First how long have you been breeding Chihuahua's ?
I'll answer that one from my side.....................over 30
YEARS
Probably about your age from the sound of things.
Have you never heard of the value of sweet potatoes in dogs?
Have you never ever tried something like this?
I was only trying to help.
My dogs are in demand all over the United States.
I have a waiting list for my Sporting Beagles.
So before you criticize KNOW where you are coming from or at
least do a little research.

im sorry to say but people food is for people if you feed this to
a chi that wont eat dog food it my never eatdog food and some people may not
want to spend the money or the time to make it and that might make it hard to
sell them I too give my chis people food but not till they are eating dog food
i dont want to make them think that is the food they are ment to eat people
food is a treat not regular food for dogs JUST MY THOUGHTS:)

You can try my home made dog chow recipe.

                    Mare's Dog Goulash
                    6-8 chicken thighs
1 Large can p lain pumpkin
                    2 large sweet potatoes
                    1 cup brown rice
                    1 cup oatmeal
1 large can mixed vegetables without the onions
Boil chicken thighs and debone saving the broth
Add the rice to the broth and cook the rice
Microwave the sweet potatoes 12 minutes
Grind the chicken up in a food processor or a blender or
chop very fine
Add it to the broth/rice mixture
                    Add the vegetables drained
Add the sweet potatoes peeled and chopped fine or mashed
                    Add the oatmeal

Feed as much as they will eat . Probably a half cup per chi.
                    You can refrigerate the rest.
I do it in zip loc bags so I can just take a serving out
and microwave it.
I have never had a dog refuse to eat it !
                    Good Luck !

I HAVE A LITTER OF CHIHUAHUAS THAT WILL BE 7 WEEKS OLD
WEDNESDAY. I
HAVE ALREADY TRIED TO WEAN THEM. I HAVE TRIED MOISTENED
PUPPY FOOD AND
ALSO SOFT PUPPY FOOD WITH GRAVY FROM A POUCH. THEY TURN
THEIR NOSES
UP AT IT. MY LAST TWO LITTERS DID GREAT AND I HAD NO
PROBLEM
WHATSOEVER GETTING THEM TO EAT. BUT THESE TWO BABIES SURE
ARE
STUBBORN! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT ELSE I CAN DO TO GET THESE
LITTLE GUYS
TO WANT TO START TO EAT? A NY HELP WILL BE GREATLY
APPRECIATED. THE
NEW OWNERS UNDERSTAND AND WANT WHAT IS BEST FOR THEM AND
KNOW THEY HAVE
TO WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE EATING WELL ON THEIR OWN. I AM GOING
TO WAIT
UNTIL THEY ARE 8 WEEKS OLD OR OLDER BEFORE I LET THEM COME
AND GET
                    THEM.
