Pretty much all shampoos and the water will kill the fleas on the animal.
However,
it won't kill the eggs, nor keep the fleas from coming back.

Hello, I dont normally reply very much but I had to since it was regarding a
flee problem. I have had the same problem as well here in Oklahoma. Just
on Sat. this weekend I gave my boston terrior a bath and just used some
regular 'hair shampoo' I had handy and would you believe it killed his
flees. I bet there were 20 flees dead in the bath tub. I do not normally
wash him with my shampoo, but I was in a hurry and he was really "smelly".
He has had no problems with having 'dry skin' because of this bath, but I
was just in shock to see that it killed the flees like it did. Good luck.

Me too. I'm hoping the weather here will get colder so I won't have
this problem next year. What I've been doing that has been helping is
bathing him every week. I started out with Dawn dish saop which really
washes the fleas away. Then I switched to plain dog shampoo with
conditioner so it wouldn't dry his skin out too much. On top of that I
bought a flea spray at the feed store to spray his bedding and living
area after the bath each week. I also spray around our furniture since
he lays on it. I used Frontline a month ago and all it seemed to do
was keep the fleas away from his head. They all migrated to his bottom
area which was so bad for him. He had all these little red bites down
there especially his scrotum. I'm trying a new flea medication this
month to see if it works better. It's an off brand but I'm hoping it
works better. I seen at Walmart an all natural flea medicine made by
Sergents called Nature's Secret or something like that. Has anyone
heard of it working? If so I might try that nexr month if this doesn't
work. Sorry to be so long.
