Why in the world would anyone hate you? That is pretty much what I have been trying to say in various emails. Just because a breeder is registered with AKC or CKC and recommended does not mean they are a good caring breeder. That is one reason I got so offended when Mandy said that Valona's website gave her a "bad vibe" because she used the word business to describe what she does. You would not find a bigger or more caring dog lover anywhere than Val. I guess it bothered me because I was recommending Val and only gave her website because a member here requested it. If I had known she was going to get slammed by someone that did not even know anything about her, I would have never done it and certainly won't do it again. I am the type of person that unless you know something bad about a breeder or a person (for a fact) then keep the slamming to yourself. It helps nothing. Mandy, if you are reading this for the record I did not jump down your throat, nor was I making fun of your opinion. I am sorry if it came across that way. What I was reading in your post to me was an uninformed opinion and to me that is different. Nevertheless, I was not poking fun and I don't have a problem with differing opinions, I just had a hard time understanding yours and I still do. I have known Valona for about 10 years now. I met her online through a group message board that had nothing to do with dogs. I remember when she started breeding chi's. It was a lifelong dream of hers to do this. When Bogie was born, was about a bad time in my life. A lot of things happened that was causing depression and other medical problems. When his picture was posted, I fell in love with him, but being recently out of work there was no way I could afford him. Val's pups get sold very fast. She knew what I was going through and how I felt about the dog. She called my husband one day w/o me knowing and made arrangements to send Bogie to us, just for the cost of shipping. This dog has been a lifesaver for me. As soon as he came out of his crate he was by my side and pretty much never leaves. He is a happy, spoiled rotten little monster that gives us so much pleasure. Sorry for such a long post. Guess I just felt like sharing. We have always owned dogs. We have had some good and bad ones. Dasha (our Rottie) is the best dog we have ever had and she was a stray. Smart as a whip. However she is 15 and has arthritis real bad in her back legs. I fear she won't be with us much longer. Everyone is scared when they see her, but she would not hurt a fly. So, I guess what I am saying to you is sometimes your instincts lead you to a real good thing, like the pup you got online. That is what happened when I saw Bogie's picture. I will attach the picture that caused me to fall so in love with him. And what he looks like now. the pictures will be sent in an separate email. My name is Marky and I joined the list awhile back (couple of weeks) I did a brief note, but have been mostly reading posts. I am writing because I have debated with myself over this shipping thing. I do have a new chihuahua pup..which I unwisely found on line...at least my good sense tells me it was unwise. He is wonderful, very healthy, came out of the plane calm, happy and ready to come home with me. He is 14 weeks and pretty well house broken (uses a cat box). He gets along with my 7 yr old chihuahua and my 5 year old rescue French Bulldog...he and my old cat have bonded. I have NEVER even considered getting a dog on line before, but for some reason when someone at work was looking at this little guy on line I just had to have him. This has NEVER and I repeat NEVER happened to me before. I have had many dogs in my 55 years and they have all been purchased from 'reliable breeders', or rescues. Oh, I forgot, I did purchase my first chihuahua from a 'backyard breeder' who had purchased a breeding pair from a 'reliable breeder...a show breeder' who was retiring and moving to Arizona...sold all her dogs through a newspaper add in the Sac. Bee. Go figure.. I say all this to note that two of the Boston Terriers I paid a large sum of money for, from a person who is very active in the breed and even has her name on national club officer lists, had some serious health issues. They both died of Congestive heart failure very young...Broke my heart to say the least...also cost many many dollars in vet bills. The before mentioned chihuahua never went to the vet, except for brief checkups, and unfortunately when a stray dog jumped my fence and attacked her on the front porch. My point is you do the best you can, make the best choices you can. I will probably buy my next dog from a 'reliable breeder' ...but I choose not to judge others who do not. I DO NOT advocate PUPPY MILLS...that is a whole differant story. The woman I got my new puppy from has called once, sent two e-mails to check of Walter... in 3 weeks. I never heard from the 'reliable breeder' once my check cleared. Also, not that it is the most important thing... I paid $800. for this pup....Local people wanted $1300. to $2000. for pet pups. I have been around long enough to know that if you have 3 pups and you sell them for $1000. plus, even if your dog had a cesearn and had ultra-sounds...it did not cost over $3000. in vet fees....unless she speant time in the doggy ICU. I don't think this is a bad thing..just a true thing...but SOME people DO make a fair amount of money breeding their show kennel.. pet quality dogs. If you hate me now I will unsubscribe from the list....this is my story...true as true can be....marky On 11/6/07, dasha <[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> net> wrote: Yes, that is what I have been saying all along. So, they sell and we buy, its a business. We just have to use some caution and try to find what we're looking for in breeder and in dog.
