What time do your chis eat? I think Maxx is changing his
mealtimes... And I'm not sure I want to because I don't want him
eating too late and then going to sleep within the hour. What do you
think? Is it safe for them to sleep in a full stomach?
In the last 2 months since I got him, I serve his meals at 6:30AM,
12:30noon, and again at 6:30PM. He doesn't eat his lunch till about
3 to 4, and doesn't always finish it. I serve him his dinner at 6:30
but he usually doesn't eat it till 7:30, again not always finishing
it. I give him 1/3 cup every meal to a total of 1 cup a day of Canidae.
The last 2 days though, I decided not to take his dinner away and
leave it through the night. And I noticed that he ate and finished
them around 9-10pm. He used to be sooo sleepy by 8:30. He's
extended it a bit to an hour later and now eats during that time. I
don't mind him sleeping later -- I actually like it since he doesn't
wake up at 5AM anymore! He does need to go to the potty around 2AM.
My questions are: Is it okay for him to eat around 9-10pm then go to
sleep afterwards? He sometimes poops immediately after eating. Last
night though, he went ahead and slept and just woke up at 2AM to poop
his dinner out. :o)
Do I need to serve him equal portions throughout the day? I plan to
feed him more during breakfast and the lightest during dinner since
he eats later now.
Is serving him at 6:30 - 7AM, then again at 3PM then at 10PM okay? Or
do I stick to the original schedule and allow him to eat whatever
time he wants? I want his food fresh so I figured I'd serve it when
he actually eats it.
Any opinions?
