Bogie looks like a mix between the two. His coat looks like Dinah, but it
looks like Taz around the neck and chest.

Not all LC's will have an undercoat (aka, double coat), and it is not
limited to l/c's....s/c's can have them as well, just not usually and they
are often referred to as rough coats.
 
All an undercoat really is is two things.....hair that grows on the
underside (most chis don't really have hair on the underside) and also
presents as a really thick coat. A lot of double coated l/c's look more like
a pom or other fuzzy breed, simply because they have so much hair.
 
I have attached two pics of my chis. The first, Taz, is a double coated l/c,
the send, Dinah, is a l/c without undercoat......

I read that long-haired chi's have an undercoat. How can you tell if they
have an undercoat, I just see lots of fur!!!
