Are you in the UK or the US? Here in the UK I've not heard of them grading
them. I have a bitch that has luxating patella in both back legs but so far it
doesn't bother her.My vet recommended leaving the op until it gets to the stage
where it is causing her pain.
It IS hereditary so you can't breed from a bitch with it (which is a bit of
pain since my bitch was nearly £2000 (pounds not dollars) and was supposed to
be my foundation bitch).
Personally I wish the breed has some sort of KC registered scheme like the HD
scoring scheme. It could be virtually eliminated with time if only breeders
would co operate

  Subject: [Chihuahuas] Luxating Patella

My little man just got diagnosed with luating patellas yesterday. It's
both of his back legs. I was wondering how common this is in chihuahuas
and how soon i need to have it corrected. the vet told me yesterday
that the sooner i get it done the better. thanks in advance for all the
  advise!
