Vickie,
Don't give up on your little man. I have one that does the same thing. I
pulled him out of the pound. His "mom" had turned him in after having him for
a year (she pulled him from the pound when he was a baby) because she said she
"didn't have time for him". That really meant "I can't deal with his marking
and his separation issues".
Well, let me tell you, Harley is the sweetest little man I've ever met. All my
other Chi's love him and he loves them. But yes, he does mark everything. But
a friend of mine explained it very well. She told me that he only did it
because he was insecure and afraid that he would be taken back to the pound.
When she told me that, suddenly I could no longer be angry at him for being
insecure!
Lots of folks on our group make wonderful belly bands to keep the boy folks
from marking. And there are more smarts on this group than you can ever hope
for, so if it's a suggestion you need, you've come to the right place.
Just PLEASE don't ditch your little boy just because he doesn't have house
manners. He really can't help it. And it really shouldn't be a death
sentence. But it might be if you pass him on to someone else.
Okay, I'll get off my soap box now.
But PLEASE don't be too harsh on your little guy just because he's afraid he'll
be sent away...
