Marsha,
That is interesting. My golden and white Belle was $300.00. My
tri-color Daisy was $300.00. Both are long coats, CKC, and from the same
breeder. My dad was looking for a male long haired and the same breeder had
only one
male at the time a blue fawn that she said she would sell to us for $425.00.
We said no because we had heard not to pay more for color or size. I am
astounded at some of the dogs I see for sale on the internet for
$900.00-$2000.00
And these are ordinary looking chi's. Not champion sired etc... just plain
fawn male short haired chi. $1200.00 You have got to be kidding!!!Even if they
are are a more rare color-- $1500.00!!! My dogs are beautiful, I mean at
least to me!!!!
                                  Hugs,
                                           Sheila

Most breeders base their prices on quality, size, sex, color, location and
registration (ei limited is cheaper, ect). Basically it is a buyers market, so
the value is whatever someone is willing to pay. Yes, it is "normal" in the
sense that most do it. Personally, I don't differentiate on any of my pups. I
charge the same for all pups in the litter regardless of size, quality,
registration level, ect. I do NOT ship, so my value is limited to the local
area
unless someone is willing to come here. And I have had a lot willing to do so!
I have got pups as far away as NY and I am in KY. I basically add my cost of
the litter (shots, registration, vet visits, ect) and divide by the number
of pups to get my prices, lol. But yea, most will base on all of the stuff
above. I'm just weird, lol

So what is a good price? Depends on how much you want the pup, lol. I tell
people to look at their own local market to get an idea of what is a
reasonable range for the quality of pup they are seeking. I am selling this
litter for
$300 each, CKC. This is my first CKC litter (always AKC before) so I am not
entirely sure how things are gonna go down, but I do already have a potential
buyer for the no tail and the pups are not even 4 weeks old yet.

Marsha,
I notice a lot of breeders charge more for blue fawns and
blue chi's. Is that normal?? What is a good price??

 Sheila
