I have seen spots continue to develop as long as a year. As a general rule, I would say that whatever they are at about 6 months is what they will stay. But if you buy a light colored chi, at around the average "selling" age, don't be at all surprised to find it developing markings later on........ Marsha

My daughter bought a white toy poodle with black ears and one large black spot, she was that way when she bought her, so all was fine but as she grew and especially after her first clip, she developed gray spots all over her body, not pronounched spots more like blotches. They do detract from her looks but if you look at her precious little face you forget about the blotches.
