My heart breaks for you and your Mom. What little dolls. I went through the same thing about 6 years ago with Bud (Rosebud). I had her for 15 years. She was a doxie mix. One morning she was having trouble breathing. I rushed her to the vet and by noon she was gone. She had water around her heart, congestive heart failure. She was healthy as can be till that morning. I have always regretted taking her to the vet, because she died alone and scared, with strangers, in a crate at the vets office. They gave her IV lasix and tried 3 times to resisitate her, but to no avail. It devasted me. My next dog, Lady, was an old chi, she did the same thing 3 years later. I let her die at home with me. I handled it a lot better, because she was not alone. I know it's not much comfort, but at least Chiffon was home with your Mom and Salt, those she loved. I'm so glad she has Salt to comfort her. When Bud passed the house seemed so empty, she was my only dog at the time. But when Lady passed, I had Lacie at the time and Lacie comforted me, she missed her too. I believe dogs sence your lose and feel it too. Please give her my deepest sympathies, and a great big hug from me.
Blessings to u and your's :-)

I am totally heart broken to night, but not nearly as much so as my mom. Mom's chi, Chiffon, passed away this am. Chiffon, aka Shauny, was mom's first chi.
