Double coated is an undercoat. It is basically thicker and fuller. Whereas, a rough coat is a term given to describe one that has neither a smooth coat nor a long coat, but is somewhere in between. Remember though, that officially, neither of these terms "exist" lol. The standards recognise only short coat or long coat.
