my Shepherd did this running out by the lake, I had to take scissors and cut
the pad the rest of the way off, did pretty much what you did and it healed -
might want to have a vet look at it

Hi guys
This is not for my Chis, but for my greyhound.  She was in the yard today and
when she came in her back foot was bleeding.  Well we took a look at it and one
of her pads is almost completely torn off.  I was wondering if anyone has any
experience with this and any suggestions.  I was reading about it and it seems
that field dogs and such have is more often.  I have cleaned the area with
antiseptic and covered it with antibiotic ointment wrapped it in gauze and put
a baby sock on her.  She is in pain when she walks and puts no pressure on the
injury.  We had a hard time cleaning it because it hurt her so she just wanted
to run away.  I felt bad for her but it needed to be clean.  Anyways if anyone
has and suggestions on the best way to handle this injury please let me know.
Thanks.
