I found this website that explains umbilical hernias in dogs.  If it is a small 
hernia, it says it may heal on it's own or you can have it repaired when she is 
spayed.  By the way, they say never to breed a dog that has one or has had one 
because it can be hereditary.  Here is the website:

If a pet hernia is like a human hernia they have to have surgery because it is 
a rip in the muscle wall.  I have had experience with human hernias with my 
mom.  They can get worse.  I would get a second vet  in on this one. Just my 
thought on the matter.

sounds a bit fishy to me....then again, i may just be biased since i am
not a fan of "herbal" remedies.... but never heard of curing a hernia,
especially with any meds.
