Never tried senior greenies. In fact my dogs wont eat greenies. But my husband has an american foxhound who is eight years old and has really bad arthritis. I dont like the idea of doping him up. Here is what helps me manage his arthritis.
1.If the weather is cool he always wears a sweater outside
2.If it is raining in cool weather I let him use a piddle pad indoors.
3.Pet steps leading to the bed and couch so he doesnt have to jump.
4.Massage
5.Keeping the rooms warm
6.Blocking drafts
7.Using a raised bed to keep him off cold floors
8.Blankets to keep his joints warm
9.Heating pads on low and watching it carefully
10.Raised feeders to prevent bending and stretching
11.Gentle exercise to keep the joints warm
12.Warm baths
13.Swimming in the summer
14.Patience when he is slower than normal
15.When all else fails I give him one canine aspirin
Hope this helps.
Have A Beautiful Day, Each And Every Day!

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Unfortunately my family is either sick or spending the day with in-laws and as I'm not feeling well myself my husband and I decided to stay home today. But I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families!

My question is this... Jaelyn LOVES Greenies. In fact she tends to wolf them down in no time. Good thing I only give her the teenie size (when available). My question is this... I've seen the 'Senior' variation of Greenies that includes a natural source of joint-soothing glucosamine and chondroitin for their joint relief. Because Jaelyn is already having problems with arthritis in the mornings or when she gets up from a nap, Right now she's on a medication to help her arthritis that the vet put her on, but I'm worried about it harming her kidneys, etc and want to find a 'natural' way to sooth her arthritis and joint pain.  I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to give her the Senior variation verses the regular lifestage variation. I try to give her one greenie a day to help curb her horrible breath and as a treat.

Has anyone used the Halo version to help with arthritis in their dogs? I'm curious how well that works too.

What are your thoughts? Do you have any other natural solutions that you have used and you are very happy with when it comes to helping lower the pain of their arthritis? I could really use some input. :)

Warmest Wishes & Have A Wonderful Thanksgiving!!
