Hi Christina, It was so fun reading your post...
Our pets are my kids now that my daughter is grown, married and will have a baby of her own this month. I've been busy loom knitting things for my first grandchild so that's kept me out of the stores and from over-buying pet gifts this year I think for our Chico, kitty and parrots. So far, all I have for Chico for Christmas Day is a box of Hollywood treats and a really cute, real looking rabbit toy from Walmart since he loves to chase the real ones outside. He no longer plays with toys (and has a pile of them too), but still loves getting them - loves to see if there's anything in a sack for him. I guess he stopped playing with toys when we got the kitty - Angel Blue a couple of years ago almost in Dec. thus her name Angel and Blue 'cause she's part Russian Blue. We got her from a shelter. She and Chico are buds even though sometimes they fight like kids...lol It's really funny, everything that he does she wants to also do, right down to eating his dry dog food. I really think she thinks she's a dog, not a cat. She plays fetch. Now Chico knows he's a dog, but also likes to do things she does as well. You can see pics of them both at my blog. Oh, and I did buy Chico a new coat this year and a hoodie (which he really didn't need...lol). They're so cute though. I got them from Walmart too. I just happened to be there one night after they'd put them out so I got first pick. Chico loves his blankies too and beds. I've never seen a dog that loves beds so much...lol Even on the rare times I've taken him to Petsmart he's drawn to the beds more than the toys...lol The parrots have already gotten their gifts this year - Standing light fixtures with full spectrum sunshine bulbs. I'm not sure I'm going to get around to making them toys this year. I was also thinking of baking dog biscuits as Chico loves those cheap animal crackers from Walmart that aren't all that good for him, not for his weight or his health. Do you mind sharing your recipe since your dog loves yours? Happy Holidays from me and Chico and the rest of the gang...
