I was told to rub her nose in it so that she realizes that is not acceptable
behavior.

That won't do any good, especially if you do it hours after the fact. The
dog won't understand why you are doing this. Can you shut her in your room
while you are gone? Get an x-pen, put her a bed toys, water and pee pads in
there. Leave a radio or TV on
