Subject: [Chihuahuas] Neuter question..

Hi all, I got Gary last Feb, I was told he was 3 at the time. Anyways,
in March I had an appt with the SPCA to neuter him. Because he had a
couple of seizures the week before, they would not do it. Recommended
that I take him back to my vet to have it done.

Well because I knew very little about his background and if he had
other health problems, the vet and I decided to wait till this summer
to do it. I was told that his first owners had wanted to use him as a
stud but he was a dud. He does not have any females around and is
always in a fenced yard or house, etc. My question is at this age is it
necessary to have him fixed and what are the pros and cons to having it
done. By the way he has not had any other seizures but has had allergic
reaction to shots and some meds.

This is my first chi and to be honest with you I never expected to love
this little guy so much, but he is just my baby now. I have always
spayed/neutered my dogs as pups, so this is new to me. Thanks, Debra
