I think it has a lot do do with where you live and what you perceive. I
never said that every rescue was on the up and up. What I did say is that a
few always make the good ones look bad and people lump them all together.

Maybe you can start a rescue so you can show them how to do it correctly

I think there are far more people trying to make $$ off of this than you
would think!!!! I can list 3 or 4 "rescues" within 100 miles of me that are
NOT on the up and up!!! They are making money...and have tax exempt status!
The dogs are not always their first concern!!! Certainly you can not say
that about every rescue...but way more than you think are NOT doing things
correctly!

Exactly. People are very mis informed about rescues

The money went to vet care, spay/neuter, shots, any medical issues that
needed to be taken care of. Some of the shelters also charged their fees
for us to get dogs out. Some was also spent to help foster homes with food.
Absolutely nothing when to any salaries of any kind. I don't know where you
are but here I'm familiar with several other rescue groups in this state and
none of them pay salaries. And I disagree that full timers getting big
salaries is how most are run.

where did the money go that was charged for the "adopted" pets? for the care
and up keep of the facility food vet care and salary to those full timers...
is how most are run.

I do know that the rescue I was involved with paid no salaries at all to
anyone. Not even mileage.

most "rescues" are in it for the money.. they may claim "no profit" but that
doesn't mean the owners aren't making a great salary. but bc its part of the
cost of business they can claim non profit.

I just bought a 1 year old for 450 but I needed her as much as she needed
me. The person I got her from was a breeder and rescue. She bought Lily last
year as a puppy but said at 4 lbs she was to small to breed. She had paid
425 for her and then got her spayed and utd on shots. Lily is the sweetest
little thing and brings me so much joy. :)

Well I would certainly agree that $300 is just plain NUTS!!!!!! Why would
anyone
do that when you can get a sweet little puppy with decent breeding for
less?????
Crazy!!!! It amazes me when some of these rescues ask $500 or more to
"adopt"
one of their precious babies...just makes no sense at all!!!! Makes me
question
thier real motives!!!!!!

A shelter here in Texas has been trying to get me to adopt an older long
coat
female Chi. She is 3 years old and has one eye missing and they want a $300

adoption fee.
