I know just what you mean...i use to be a poodle breeder...I don't want to ever
go back there!!! It was way too hard to find good homes...I was way too picky!!
I just worried about them forever!! I had a policy to always take back pups
that
people didn't want anymore for whatever reason...I ended up with WAY too many
poodles and it is even harder to find good homes for adults!!! It has only been
a couple of years since I placed the last adults from taking back pups. I know
that they are finally in GREAT homes and I keep in touch with the owners...but
my doors are still always open to them coming back. I just can't let go! People
can be horrible...something I didn't fully grasp until I got "into" breeding.
What people will throw away because it requires a little work or a little
sacrifice astounds me!!! Ya know that saying..."the more I know my dog, the
less
I like people"? Sometimes it rings WAY too true!!! So...if I breed they stay
LOL!!! Unless of course I find wonderful homes like those on this awesome Chi
list!!! But...reality says I won't go there again! I know lots of people breed
for income and honestly more power to them!! I am just not strong enough and
don't have enough trust in humanity! LOL!!

When I saw the odd photo of a Chi with Pups, at 1st I only saw 2 or 3 pups.
Then I cam across an ad for pups - 7!  How does a little dog carry so many? -
it
seems too hard.

I'll be getting a spayed female - no worries about pups.  My grandmother raised
Sckipperkeys - their babies look like Chihuahuas - just darling.  The hardest
part was getting good homes & seeing them off.  I got to play with puppies a
lot
as a child - so I've had the pleasure and don't need it now. [that's our family
solution to all things we don't do any more & shouldn't - reflect that we don't
need to - been there/done that]

The breeder I got Myrtle from breeds for long coats...she breeds long coats
with long coats and has genetic work done before hand if she is unsure of the
line as she shows and wants double coats. Myrtle was from a LC Sire and a SC
Dam...and she is a SC...but the breeder wasn't wanting LC from her particular
litter. There were no LC in the litter Myrtle was from. But...now I am
wondering
since her father was a LC, if I bred her to a LC would I have a chance at LC
pups in her litter?? Not that I will breed her most likely but it is
interesting
to think about!!! I would have to keep ALL the pups and Myrtle was one of
7...LOL!!! I would have my own all-Chi baseball team LOL!!!

My breeder who has been doing this for 25 years told me that everytime she has
breed a long with a short they always came out short. Both my girls Dad is a
long coat and they have no signs of long hair - infact Abbey has an almost bald
tummy:) She said she was told that it is a 50-50 chance but she does not
believe
that.
