I saw them talk about this on the dog whisperer - thye categorized it as a neurotic thing - if you are diligent you can take their mind off it. Once we had a dog that would lick himself a lot - very annoying as I don't think he needed to. We discouraged him by interrupting his 'grooming' and it did go away. It would be harder no doubt to do this if the dog is a 'sneaky'! LOL

She has licked 2 quarter sized holes in my carpet. It happened SO fast! I'm not sure what to think about her behavior. Can't imagine she is bored. She gets TONS of interaction. I just attribute it to being a dog. Who knows. It is really annoying. She hasn't done it for a little bit. She also licks EVERYONE. My trainer says it's a leftover from being a wolf/fox.
