Deanner, then why not just foster 1 at a time? We can only save one at a time
anyway. Some how, I think you would be an excellent foster, because you sound
like a strong woman, and I think if you put your mind to it, you would knock
yourself out to find them a furever home. I wish I had my own house, because
then I would foster. Chi's are very hard to find here on the east coast, which
is why some of the no-kill shelters try to get them out of CA and transport
them here, sadly, it only happens a couple of times a year and not on a regular
bases which is so desperately needed.

So are you really going to the Baldwin Shelter? What if you adopted her and
then you try to find her a furever home? Their are so many ways that each one
of us can save a dog, if we really put our mind to it. I did just that once
for a senior yorkie, I only had her for a month, and I asked and emailed and
posted everywhere. I deliberately walked her through town and at dog parks and
put a sign on her harness "Please Adopt Me" and it worked! I had no intentions
of keeping her, I just wanted to save her life! If anyone should decide to do
that, make sure you check out the person first and have them sign a release
form, freeing you of all obligations and no warranties as to the age and health
of the dog, and that it is the sole responsibility of so and so. That yorkie
was already spayed and UTD on everything so it made it that much easier and I
had seen the and spoken to the lady at the dog park several times and knew that
she took well care of her own dog. So you never know...just save one at a time!

I try to look at the larger picture in life. Their have been so many times when
people see my dogs and compliment them and say they would take them in a heart
beat if I ever had to give them up. My response is to give them a card with a
list of local rescues that they can help. Twice I was told that some one
adopted a dog because of me doing that.

Getting these dogs into a furever home is all in the ADVERTISING! that's the
way I look at it and it seems to work, usually when you least expect it.

Oh Peggy...I have thought about it so many times!!!! I would LOVE to be a
rescue. I just never have because of where I live...well and $$...we live in
the mountains and our house is basically a little cabin 1465 sq feet. Our back
yard, while fine for Caleb our big guy...is a huge slope...not very little dog
friendly. My 5 littles don't touch "dirt" unless we are off on walks or at the
parks...they are in my house and have access to the deck for potty time if
weather permitts. And...my neighbors LOVE me and put up with my
"over-the-limit...but I might really be pushing it to have much more!! There is
only so much homemade ww bread I can make as peace-offerings LOL.

My dream is to move when Mark retires in 3 years...and actually have a
rescue!!! The only issue I see is becoming a hoarder!!!! LOL!!! I would want to
keep them forever in my forever home and meet all their needs!!!

GOD BLESS YOU Deanna! Who says you have to tell them how many dogs you have?
If you live within their zipcode limits you should be able to adopt her. If you
are not within thier zipcode limits they may say you can only adopt through a
local rescue, in which case they would then do a house inspection. You can ask
them for the local rescue names and phone #s.

Deanna, have you ever thought of setting your self up as a rescue? Or even a
foster mom through another rescue? Baldwin puts down Chi's every week because
they are constantly overloaded with them. Even if you only took in one or two
at a time, what a blessing to know that you are saving some babies! Most
rescues pay for all the vetting, you just feed and train them for a new home.

Hugs,

They may not let me have her with my numbers but I am gonna try...pray will

I don't have any further info except for the PDF and U tube videos. I have been
told they are slated to be PTS Thurs AM, so arrangements must be made by Wed.
This shelter is very rescue friendly, which means that if you call and are out
of state they will help to give you rescue names that can help you to pull them
out. I personally can't believe that they put a 4 month old puppy on the list!
Others have told me that they are so jammed packed that they are forced to work
strictly according to the dates that the dogs were brought in, in order to be
fair to all the dogs. :((
