yes it will work that is how I trained mine when they were babies to use the
potty pads, I was lucky because I had neighbors that gave me a used pee potty
pad and I put it down and Abbey went right on it. We only use them when it
rains really hard as they like to go on the grass. I even stand out there with
an umbrella so they do not get wet. Oh what we do for those babies.... Nancy
and the girls

Sounds like very sensible advice - a little unpleasantness for us but worth it
for the intervention  benefits.  Think of it as 'positive' reinforcement.

Hi Annette...I wouldn't spray bitter stuff but something you might do is to
have your pad down in the kitchen and then when they miss it and poop
elsewhere, pick up the poop, put it on the pad and show them what you are
doing. Now LEAVE it there for a bit...thats the hard part...but they will get
it eventually that you have a plan of exactly WHERE they are to go
potty!!!...same with the pee too!

Thanks everyone for the input on indoor potty options. I like the idea of
getting a pee pad holder; might switch to that. I have a big packet of unused
pads in the cupboard. I noticed you can get them fairly cheap at Costco too. I
never thought about the cleaning of the artificial grass as really having to
clean three pieces which, I agree, doesn't sound too appealing. And I don't
want it to be stinky!

Now we've just let them start being in the whole kitchen instead of just half
of it, basically, and it makes them really happy to be with us while we're
cooking, washing dishes, etc., and gives them more room. However, they just
pooped on the middle of the linoleum for the second time in two days! Do they
need to go back to the smaller space? I really hate that idea, though, for
various reasons. Could we spray some bitter stuff there in addition to the odor
remover stuff?

Well, it's my fault for wanting to get puppies and experience the whole thing!
haha Take care, Annette & family with Paco & Pixie (Seattle)
