Have you heard of a grass-like product that you wash? - kind of astro-turf for 
dogs?

yes it will work that is how I trained mine when they were babies to use the 
potty pads, I was lucky because I had neighbors that gave me a used pee potty 
pad and I put it down and Abbey went right on it. We only use them when it 
rains 
really hard as they like to go on the grass. I even stand out there with an 
umbrella so they do not get wet. Oh what we do for those babies.... Nancy and
