Hi Shanna,

Gigi does know sit and stay, down, hi five, shake paw, dance, bow, kiss, belly
rub, over, off. If I were to put her in a stay, she will stay like that for
15 minutes or longer as long as I am in the same room. Once I leave a room, she
is up and running after me. She does have a bit of "separation anxiety"
but in a way I can't blame her, the only history that I have on is that I was
her 5th owner within a 3.6 month period, and who knows what else she has been
through. I do know that she was some ones back yard breeder as well. So who can
blame her for never wanting to be separated from me? Not only that, but the
anesthesia from the spay/tooth surgeries has caused some slight brain damage.
So I really can't expect much more from her. She is a very gentle, some what
timid  little dog and understands a lot of commands. She surprised me as
to how well and fast she increased her vocabulary in such a short time with me.
I have only had her since July and then the surgeries were done in Sept, and
that's when some things changed in her personality and she developed some
peculiar

behaviors which she doesn't have any control over.

I never leave a harness on my dogs unless I am walking them. It would be to
constricting and uncomfortable for them all the

time. Kinda, like me....the first thing that comes off when I get home
is......you guessed it....Da Bra!....LOL!!

If you know the name of the company that has Rickys micro-chip, then you
usually have to create an account with them and then add your personal info.
Once you have done that, then you go to the Universal site links and check to
see if it went through with them. You will need to have the miro-chips ID# in
front of you. If you don't have his ID# on paper, then you can take him to the
vet or any shelter will scan him for you and give you the number. If you go to
a shelter, make sure you have proof that you really own him first. Most vets
won't charge you just to scan him.

Hi Peggy

Ricky was fixed, and microchiped before I got him. I also bought him a collar
with an ID tag and it stays on 24/7. He wears a harness for walking which is on
him 24/7. I have not changed the name and address for it. I do not really know
how to do it. but need to look into it like today! I think its a really good
idea to have training for our chi's to learn basic obedience like sit, stay
& come on comand. This will keep our dogs from trying to run out of the
door. Ricky does not run out the door when its opened. He knows the word sit
and stay. but I know if I had him outside and not on a leash, he would go after
people or other animals and not listen to me at all. just thinking about it, I
feel I should see about doing some training. We can go on the internet and find
step by step basic training for free. When my Shep/husky was a puppy, (she died
recently at 15) we took her to dog training. It helped alot. The training
classes really are teaching the parents how to train there dog.

ID & Microchip is very very important.

I am curious, (as usual, Lol!)

How many of you keep a collar on your dogs with an ID tag at all times?

How many of you have all your dogs Micro chipped, regardless how small they are?

Putting an ID on Gigi was done the same day that I got her. Good thing too,
because she constantly tries to squeeze out the door after me.  For a
while, with training, she stopped that and would listen, but every once in a
while she tries again. She is so fast at it too, no matter how careful I am. I
am always worried that one of these days she is going to get her head slammed
in the door. She has cost me to drop groceries and the garbage all over the
place a couple of times. She's like lightening to get at the door and follow me!

For Princess I had to do it right away too, because if I open the door and she
sees a squirrel, she's gone. But now she listens well and stays in the chair by
the window when I go out.

Both of them got micro chipped right away too. I am a firm believer in both.

Deanna's- Madison is a perfect example as to how many dogs never find their way
back home. She's lucky, many are not.

I remember last year when CA had those fires for so long....the SPCA said the
main reason why so many dogs were never put back with their owners is because
they were not microchipped and didn't have ID's on them. So their was no way to
trace the displaced owners to their pets.  You never know when an
emergency is going to happen and your dog should be protected at all times,
especially during the night, since that is when most emergencies do happen.

The other reason why dogs are not reunited with their owners, even when they
are micro-chipped is because the owners don't get on their computers and update
the chip with new addressess and phone numbers. Also, it is very important to
make sure that the chip is registered with the two UNIVERSAL SITES, and not
just with the company that manufactures the chip.

Here are the links for that, just in case some of you are not aware of that.

I just had two more ID's made at Petsmart. I love their machine! They can put 4
lines of info on each side of their ID's including the tiny ones for our
little chi's! And they are only $7.50 each. Best deal that I found around!

Now I have an ID on all of their collars, and don't have to go crazy, putting
the ID's on and off every time I want to change their collars.

When I walk the girls, I use a  harness, but those collars with their ID
will stay on them 24/7!
