I am so sorry to for your loss, having gone through it last year I know and
understand how painful it is. I still miss my baby put I try and think of all
the fun we had and all the funny things he did.
I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.

I see that the rescues won't pull them unless they are up for adoption. Means
the rescues must be full. I will pass the word on.

Dasha, I am so sorry for your loss, and I know it can take a long time before a
person is ready for another pet, so I fully understand your feelings.  Ellen is
in Indiana.

See my next post on the PM Chi's in GA. They need to get out of their as soon
as possible.

The shep already has a forever home in North Carolina. And I feel it is too
soon after losing our beloved dasha (rottie/Doberman mix) we had her for 14
years and I still can't hardly stand to look at her grave. I just don't feel
the time is right for us.

Where does Ellen live again? I have never know anyone that has had a hard time
adopting from a rescue. Personally I mean.

Apparently North Carolina has some shortage of dogs for adoption because the
daughter's my daughter fostered that went to the Save the Puppies rescue were
also transported to NC.

Dasha, that's what I said too. Not all rescues have the same hang ups.You
really have to keep trying until you get what you want.  Sounds like you fell
in love with the shep/lab, why not adopt him from the rescue, if he isn't
already promised to a furever home?  I commend you on doing the leg work,
tiring as it may be, without people like you the dogs would not have any place
to go and wouldn't be saved. I did it a couple of times here too, but not the
distant that you did.

Since you are directly in touch with rescues, maybe you could send a few emails
on Ellens behave, if she is still willing to try again. I feel so bad for her,
that she was disappointed and given the wrong impression, all because of one
rescue person.  I look at all those Chi faces on Petfinders and the
DogsInDanger site that are going to be put down and it is killing me that their
isn't a much less stressful way of getting a dog to some one like Ellen who
would love it no matter what. Yet thousands of dogs are adopted out from
rescues all time. So why is everybody in this group that has tried, having such
a hard time? I don't get it!

I am sorry Ellen.

There really are some good rescues out there. Our leg of the transport we
did this morning was exhausting. We picked 3 dogs up from a local vet clinic
then drove them 70 miles to the next person. She was over an hour late
getting there and one of the dogs was a demon.. Poor thing, it was a male
sharpei/chow mix about 6 months old. I knew why he was turned over to the
shelter w/o even asking. Dog humped and bit and chewed everything.
Beautiful dog that needs a home with active owners and a place to run and
some good basic training. One dog was a mix of Australian shepard and
something else. Beautiful colors but a very timid cowering dog. Once she
was loved on for a while she perked right up. The other one was a
shepard/lab mix about a year old. Beautiful, very well behaved dog. She
would sit and stay and lie and shake hands. No telling why she was in the
shelter but if she had not been promised to the rescue I would have kept
her. I miss my Rottie/Doberman mix...

I talked to the person doing the next leg of the transport about the rescues
and she says that not all rescues have such strict rules. It is just a
matter of finding the right one.

HI Guys, I have given much thought to adopting another Chi and have now
decided to give the idea up and just spoil the crap out of Sissy.

She is doing great with the cats and since I wouldn;t be considered for hte
little one I fell in love with named Nema I have decided to give up and just
love the animals I have.

After Reading what Deanna went through and stuff I am not goign to put my
self in that kind of situation. I still do not understand why I am not
allowed to adopt a dog that is the same sex as mine and give her a loving
spolied home. It doesn't make since to me so I kind of think of rescues as a
hoax myself. I know before you all going crazy one me that there are
probable some good ones out there. But if they really want people to help
donate etc then they need to be able to give a dog up to a person who woul
dtreasure it! Just my opinion. I have tried to talk to them and find out
what the big deal is as they are the same sex and the onle I am interested
in is spayed what difference should it make if mine that I have currently is
or isn't?

I am really pissed off about this as I would have given her a fantastic
home. I just seen a loose dog tonight and wondered who in hell it's owner is
and why is it out running when it is about to snow here?

I just don't get it! Ellen
