Be careful when you use the Furminator. It is a stripper, not a de-shedder
like they advertise. Any good groomer will attest to that. A de-shedder
only removes dead loose hair. A stripper cuts and pulls out and will thin
good healthy fur. To the novice, it looks like the dog has a lot of dead
hair. If you look at the commercial, no healthy dog, no matter what the
breed would loose that much fur in just one brushing unless the fur was
being stripped, or the dog was very sick.

Hi
I have always thought that nature should take its course as far as dogs
shedding. I dont think trying to stop shedding is good. but that is my
opinion. I believe that good brushing, bathing and good food will keep the
shedding at bay.. or at least less.

I had a shepard husky mix some years back. I use to have to brush her daily,
and bath monthly. I also used the vacuum hose on her... she loved it!!

they have that shed tool now called FURMINATOR. Its a wonderful tool!

Anyone ever tried that Shed Stop supplement? I never have but I have friends
that swear by it...i think they buy it through Jeffer's Pet. I use a boar
bristle brush every morning and every night on the chis and the boston..
coats are shiny and silkie and no shedding. Again I think diet plays a huge
roll in coat health. If I had a Chi that shedded a lot I would start
re-thinking his food and find out where I could improve what I was feeding.

Valerie, I have a black and tan chi female and a blonde female and they both
shed like crazy. I have to brush them 3 time a week to control it. I also
have to use a lot on lint removal tape.

I bathe Emiloiano about once a month, sometimes, I may wait a longer amount
of time, if he looks clean and smells OK. I use DogOSuds, "all natural
gentle cleansing shampoo" with a wonderful lingering Lavender smell.
