My vet once told me and my neighbor, that if the dog won’t eat out of the bowl to experiment with other bowls. Dolly would not eat out of her heart shaped bowls. I bought a couple hard plastic bowls at Walmart and this appears to be the only bowl she will drink out of if she is not in her area. Some like the steel, some like the porcelain, some like the plastic. It could be the smell of them, the coldness of the porcelain and the steel, it could be that there is a reflection and they think that there is another dog in the bowl.

You know, I just discovered that Dorie and Garrett eat better when their food is on the floor instead of their bowls. They drink water out of the bowls just fine. They will eat a little tiny bit out of the bowl but eat with gusto and happiness if it is on the floor. They are not related and as far as I know, they were not trained to eat off the floor before they got to me. Weird.
