Kylie I am happy you rescued this little guy. I am not sure how long you have had him, but it can take a few months for a new dog to adjust to his new home and different living. If he did not get attention before, then most likely he was never house trained. I think you will have to start him as you would a puppy... just keep in mind he does not know any better... you are teaching him. any punishment will not help. If it were me, I would crate train him. means you buy a wire crate big enough for him to stand up, turn around, lay down (a bit bigger is ok). You will have to keep him in it, and take him outside to potty often. continue giving treats for goodness. Another thing if you are feeding him many times a day or all day long, this can be a problem to. Cut back the food. Feed some in the morning, noon, evening. no snacks in between (good behavior treats are ok). make sure the kids are not giving him any of there food. during the day/evening. The more food fed in the day, the more poop you will have. I do not know what brand dog food you are feeding, but if its the pedigree or other lower grade food, this is full of fillers and will just make him go poop ALOT and get nothing out of it! I use Wellness Core, I cook for him beef, chicken, turkey etc also. there are many great dog foods in the pet store.. make sure the food does not have corn or by-products in it. Others here will give you a list of good dog food too. If your interested in feeding RAW, then there are people here also that can help you. RAW is what the wild wolf (dog) eats in the wild. super best food for them. I hope I have helped some. I think the little guy is just so overwhelmed with all the love and attention... but so happy. Let us know what you feed and how often. and what is this little guys Name?? Pictures??

To: [email protected] Date: Tuesday, January 18, 2011, 10:17 PM I rescued a chihuahua 2 years ago. When I first got him he had been severely neglected and was close to death. when I first brought him home he was really aggressive to everyone except me. With some love and lots of attention and always having a lap to sit in he has transformed from a very aggressive dog into a very loving family member. He is spoiled between our 4 kids and grandson and my grandma who holds him all day long. We love him dearly but he has one bad habit that is very hard to live with and I need some advice on how to handle it. He poops in the house alot. He'll do it everyday for awhile and then not do it for a week then start it all over again. It seems to have nothing to do with the weather. It'll be sunny and after hes been outside he'll poop inside. It's cold here in WI but some days hes fine with going outside and other days he just goes wherever he feels like it. We've tried rewarding him when he goes potty outside but then the next day he goes inside. We always make sure he gets outside when he needs to but sometimes he'll poop right after he gets back in. Please help! I'm sick of cleaning up poop inside the house!
