Carol, thanks for the fire hydrant hint. I may try that.

Rose, I also waffled a bit on the potty patch because of the expense but
eventually bought one. It's been worth it for me, Elmo used it almost
immediately and has not poo'd anywhere else in the house since. I did place it
on the spot where he had previously poo'd a few times, maybe that helped but in
any event - he decided that's where to go when he must go inside (I also take
him outside as often as possible) and has not deviated from that.
Peeing...that's another issue. He rarely pees on the potty patch, for some no
doubt dog logical reason. I have a training pad somewhat near the potty patch
and just this week, he has pretty consistently been peeing on that. Maybe
Carol's fire hydrant will help solidify that for him.

This was not how I originally planned my guest bedroom to be outfitted. Snort.

I have 10 chi's plus I house fosters until they are placed and all go outside
in good weather but mostly they use wee pads. I bought trays for them to keep
the younger ones from playing with them. I also bought a treated fire hydrant
from pets.com or Dr foster to put on one pad. It is treat with an attractant
and cost less than $20 with shipping. Lets the boy hike without using my
furniture!!!
Good luck\Carol Anne and Crew
