Well.we all have some challenges. I have been the victim of five or six
rear end collisions. The last two did me in. I have some serious spinal
injuries..I have three cervical vertebra fused, and I have two more disks
that are herniated. I have one lumbar fusion and three herniated disks. I
have spinal stenosis in both my cervical and lumbar spine and have so many
surgeries that I have lost count.

I don't really go out and tell people.sometimes people ask me where I work
and I have to tell them that I am disabled. But most days, in pain or not,
I try to face the world with a happy face; it is not everyone else's problem
that I am the way that I am. But, I think that when we have some sort of
disability, we strive to do more than most people would imagine that we
could. I have learned a lot from my injuries, and most important is that I
still have my brain.and there is something that makes me want to do things
that I may not be able to do.it is very hard for me to admit that I can
longer do this or do that. But it has taught me humility, to not be afraid
to ask a friend a favor, as I also want to do good for my friends. It has
taught me patience.I can no longer do the things as I did before, and it has
also offered me some extra creativity.I have to think of ways that I can do
things that I want to do and figure out the best way that I can still do it.

Many have disabilities, and it really doesn't matter as far as the heart of
the person goes.and usually the heart of the disabled is a whole lot bigger
than some that are not.

God bless you, Portia

It is amazing what is out there for most of us that are disabled and want to
advance or be able to be a part of society..

I don't really like painting a picture to those that I am labeled as a blind
person.. Just want to be just like y ou all..

A part of..

Portia
