Hi Cat,
for a dog thats bound up I give 1 tsp of mineral oil orally and then I may
squirt a little rectally using a syringe...or don't laugh...turkey baster. This
works well and fairly quickly...works great for impaction too. I have never
given pumpkin except for treating diarrhea. I know it works well to firm up
loose stools. But it sounds like Peggy has so obviously it works. I sure would
want to know what is causing her to bind up...Human food can be the best if it
is the right food...way better than puppy chow...which is a corn based really
poor quality food. You may just need to give her the right human foods. Think
good quality meats...dogs are carnivores...they do not need grains of any
kind!!! You can add in some veggies and fruits but remember they have very
short
digestive tracts which contain the enzymes necessary to break down meat...not
the cell structure of veggies or fruits. So...if you are gonna feed fruits and
veggies make sure they are broken down by you first..in a blender or food
processor so they can benefit from the nutrients. When a dog eats fruits or
veggies in the wild they usually are consumed from the stomachs of herbivores
and are broken down quite a bit...like a paste. So good meat is your best
option. I feed raw...a combo of 75% raw meat, 10% edible bone and 15% Honest
Kitchen which is a human grade dehydrated food. GRAINS cause so many issues in
dogs and should be avoided! Especially corn...at all costs avoid corn!

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Miss Sadie
Been a long time since I have been here, lots of cute pics. I was curious if
anyone can help me with a problem with Sadie, I had her at the vets yesterday
cause she was not acting normal, wouldnt let me pick her up with out whinning.
Anyway after a check up and a xray it showed that she was all bounded up. After
numerous enemmas and shot for pain we got to bring her home. She used to eat
strickly puppy chow but after I had her spade (after a pregnancy that went
horribly wrong) she started to beg for human food which I caved in and now I
know it was a mistake. So the question is what is a good way to make sure this
doesnt happen again. I heard olive oil, pumkin pie but she wont have nothing to
do with that, thanks in advance....
