I got Dolly when she was 8 weeks old; her papers said that she was
microchipped at 7 weeks old. She was probably 2 lb or a little less then.

Thats interesting that desi got chipped so young. But I don't think that
they are making anymore

money if you have it done while they are being spayed since you are already
paying for that.

Anesthesia is not necessary to microchip a Chihuahua. Desi was microchipped
when he was 8 ½ weeks old in the vets office without anything. They just
insert the chip with a hyperdermic needle and all is well.

I think that perhaps some vets are trying to make money by saying that they
want to do it when they spay/neuter. What happens if your puppy gets away
at 2 months or 3 months…wouldn’t you want him/her to be scanned and get back
to you?

If you go to a Vet and tell them that you think she may be in heat, they
should do a swab first and let you know one way or another. If she is in
heat, you can not get her spayed, because that may cause her to hemorrhage.
And no decent, good Vet would perform a spay on a dog in heat anyway.

They usually like to do the microchip when the dog is under, so you may have
to wait on that too. Princess who is my Eskie had her microchip done when
she was awake. It did hurt her for a second. But I was told by my Vet that
they prefer to do the small dogs when they are under anesthesia, as the
needle that they use is much larger in order to hold the chip, and it is a
lot less painful for a small dog that way. I think it depends on the dogs
weight and the amount of fatty tissue that the dog has on the back of his
lower neck where the needle is inserted.

Now what do I do.. Sam Simon will do the whole kaboodle for me wich will
include the spay, microchip, any vaccines wich the bouchure covers..

the clinic is in the back lot of the Downey Shelter..

Only on thursdays..

I think I might do this one since the other one won't do the vaccines for
free and the micro chip will cost me..
