I agree, that is just awful! Never heard of such a thing. I hate it for him and for a dog that is missing out on a wonderful home. There is no excuse for this.
My 80+ year old father-in-law adopted a little 5 yo poodle from the humane society here in Tucson quite a few years ago... they were wonderful companions.... this is so sad, it really is.
