Sorry, I read what you originally wrote incorrectly, but you explained what I was asking very well anyway. Thanks a lot, Peggy. Lynn In a message dated 3/25/2011 5:46:00 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes:
Not sure what you are asking, but every state says that you have to give a
rabies every year, OR every three years.
To my knowledge a lot of the Northeastern states like NY, CT, NJ require a
three year shot. Where as most of the southern states require a yearly
shot. You would have to Google for the state that you are interested in and
look up their Animal Control Ordinances. I have seen certain Towns, not the
Cities in the Southern states that require a 3yr, where as other Towns want
a 1yr, but I don't remember what the town names are.
I do not know how the Western and Midwest states regulate it. You would
have to Google for more info, sorry!

Peggy, may I ask do you know which states the rabies vaccine is NOT
mandatory every 3 years? You're so knowledgeable on such a large variety of
subject in regards to the furry ones. Thanks.

This may be true, but if your dog has the rabies vaccine Once, it is
already immune to the virus for life, so giving it the shot every year or
every
three years isn't necessary. Unfortunately, the law dictates that they must
be vaccinated against it every year or every three years, depending on
what state you live in.
