I can understand your worry, but one never knows how long they will live. On
the positive side, more and more people are living past 100 without even having
to go to a nursing home. There is one 103 lady who writes for a newspaper and
still goes to work everyday. She amazes me even more than our 27 year old
Ward does. She doesn't even use a walker!!! And her mind is sharper than many
young people.

However, as with children, we still all need to make provisions for our pets
without us, no matter what our age. I did this back when I was 30. Meanwhile,
most of my older relatives and recent ancestors (last 4 generations) have lived
to at least 85 (the men) and most of the women have lived into their upper
90's. My grandmas both lived to 99. So I wasn't expecting anything to happen
to me at 30, but one never knows. So I just make provisions to protect my
loved ones in case I wasn't around. My dogs definitely are loved ones.

Yes, dogs do grieve. Just as we do. They miss us and never forget; just like
we miss them and never forget. Do you know the story of Hachito?

In all probability, I won't experience Emiliano's death but in all likelihood,
he will experience mine and I worry about that also.
