I am so sorry this has happened. Unfortunately, there is risk with any surgery, even a teeth cleaning. I have never heard of an age limit to spays, though I do know of some older dogs that have been neutered with no problem. There may have been unknown underlying issues.
Please do not feel guilty and allow yourself time to grieve. Losing a fur kid is very traumatic, especially when it is unexpected. I am so sorry for your loss. The other thing, since I heard that you couldn’t spay your dog if they reach beyond the age of 5 years old. She went through the surgery, shortly after she was coming out the surgery, she started turning blue, they started giving her oxygen, and cathter iv meds.. Her heart just stopped. If anyone in the Southern California area know of the Pico Rivera Clinic Called Clinico, please, let me know if you have heard of it.. When I spoke to the County of LA Spay Nutor program, that was the same information I gotten about how old she should be.. I and my boyfriend arand been crrying all day since I broke the news to him..
