Hi Lynda...my name is Joan and I live in North Las Vegas, NV, with my two
Chihuahuas.
Dolly Dee is my fawn female and she is 3 1/2 years old. She is very calm and
would rather lay in the recliner chair or my lap all day - oh, and lay outside
in the sun!
Desi Lou is my chocolate male and he just turned two in August. He is very
hyper and a little comedian and acrobat. He loves to give kisses to anyone
that he meets - and sometimes that includes a lot of kisses at a time.
Dolly was yapping at him when I got him at 8 weeks, and at that time I thought
that she didn't like him (I am sure she didn't like him to be in HER house with
HER Mommy) but over the last two years I have seen that when she is being that
way is when he is doing something that he shouldn't. She knows the rules and
she wants to enforce them on him!
Now they will lay next to each other, and sometimes when I am in the recliner
Desi will lay next to me and then Dolly will come and lay right on top of
him...he doesn't mind, and every day I see more and more love and happy things
between them. Last night I was in the recliner and they were in their usual
'double decker' position and once I looked under their blanket and Dolly was
just a bit sideways on top of him and testing her neck on the top of his
neck...a perfect little 'X'.
I love them, you will love your new little girl. She may turn out to be the
boss of the dogs...small but mighty!

Subject: [Chihuahuas] New to the group-new chi maybe?

Hi everyone....I'm not new to the animal world (currently have 2 small dogs, 3
indoor cats, 4 indoor bunnies and 6 birdies) and work at my local
veterinarian's office. I have been given the opportunity to adopt the CHI of my
dreams - a baby - 8 weeks old and I'm a little nervous. All the animals
currently in my home get along splendidly - we have no aggression issues of any
kind - all friendly all living harmoniously (3 cats and 2 dogs in bed with me
at night...it's pretty awesome).
So...I have done much research over the years - but have never been in a
positon to get that chi I've always wanted. I have now been given that
opportunity. I'm a little concerned about her getting along with my other dogs
- as I keep reading they get along better with their 'own kind'. My current
doggies are small (13 & 18 pounds -one is a poodle mix - sweet, hyper and happy
go lucky, the other a pug mix - couch potatoe, low maintenance and very sweet).
I don't want to upset the apple cart - and I know there are no guarantees - but
I have good pets - I train and raise them well - I have pet sitters for when I
work - my pets are my life - I don't do vacations or long trips.
May I get your thoughts? recommendations? suggestions?
I'm meeting this little one Wed night - if all goes well then she'll be coming
home with me.
THANK YOU...Lynda/Pittsburgh
