I have rescued for 25+ years ....it's very difficult when you have a house full
of rescued bunnies, cats and birds to introduce a dog that has never seen or
had exposure to any of these animals.  Trust me - I've tried it - I've had
success on many occassions with other types of animals  - but never with
dogs. B ut I knew if I wanted a dog I needed to adopt a puppy - finding a
'small' 8 week old puppy in rescue was difficult-I looked for months  (it was
for me here in PA anyway). My pug mix is from a breeder with an 'oops' litter -
the other (my schnoodle)  his pregnant mother  was rescued from a puppy mill by
a breeder who closed the mill down eventually).

I have rescued for about 45 years.  I did have to buy my pug and my chug
because none were available from a rescue.
