Most pet insurance does not cover the vaccines or spaying/neutering. When I
looked into it, I found that with the premium, the deductible, and the limited
items that it pays for, that it would be better for me to put the 'premium' in
a bank account and if something big happened then I would have the money to pay
for it.
Additionally, some of the companies charge extra if you do not get the coverage
when the dog is a puppy. If your dog is older, you have to answer a
questionaire and if your vet has ever documented some ailments there would be
exclusions. Dolly had the colitis as a puppy, so it would not cover anything
related to that; and if your vet has ever said, and documented, that your dog
has a luxating patella (no matter if it was so minimal or the worst) there
would be exclusions for that. My neighbor's dog had bladder stones, so she
would not be covered for anything due to the stones.
You really need to look into several companies and enter the info for your
dog(s) and see what the premiums come out to and what the deductibles are and
the items that they will not pay for. If you are like me and many others on
this group with more than one dog...then the cost is really prohibitive.

I have no idea what pet ins. would cost. My pets have rarely ever been sick and
as for spaying, neuter, vaccines, etc I am sure of big deductables.

I am not sure if this subject has been discussed here? I don't always see all
the post:
Most of you know I lost Smidgen in September from heart failure. She was
diagnosed with it shortly after I rescued Vida in March.
I didn't have any pet insurance for her or Chassis all these years, Just always
paid what the vet charged for there yearly shots, teeth, check ups etc..
>From then until now I have spent over $ 2000.00. Part of it was on Chassis
>shots and teeth cleaning in March.

I want to see if it is worth it to get Insurance?
Do any of you have it? If you do with who? & what does it cover?
So confused about what is covered?
Any help would be appreciated on the subject...
