We have a huge colony of Quaker parrots here. They build their "condos"
on transformers or light poles. I just got home from the grocery store and
three beautiful ones were on the ground drinking from a puddle of water
(the yardman had apparently watered some flowers in a bed at the shopping
strip).

I have a crazy Quaker parrot named Ozzie after Ozzie Osbourne..as he is
very warped. He is 10 years old, talks and sings up a storm..Sometimes I
want to strangle him but he is much fun.

OH Judy you have a senegal too? I have one...she's my only 'non' rescue
other than Charlotte in the house...Her name is Pookah - and she loves her
mama...and is silly and sweet...- but she's really the boss of me...I love
her like crazy - she's only about 1 1/2 years old. Every Sunday I cook for
my birds for the week - so every Sunday it's fresh scrambled eggs and
whatever else I throw into the pot. She sits on her gym somewhat patiently
waiting for whatever hits her bowl.
Everyone else in the house is a rescue in some way. Timmy my schnoodle -
his mom was pregnant when rescued from a puppy mill (and the mill was shut
down - woo hoo)!!, Liza Jane my perfect pug/shihtzu mix - an oops litter
from a client. My 3 calico girl kitties are all indoors (claws intact) SWEET
SWEET GIRLS...my oldest, Faelyn is now 10, was rescued at 10 weeks old from
the woods (she now has one kidney but doing great), Tara and Flower were
rescued at 3 weeks and bottle fed - they are now 7 years old (Tara is on
pheno for seizures - but seizure free for 4 years and I'm trying to ween her
from the meds). Goose (my very funny and incredibly talkative cockatiel)
was willed to me by a client that comes to our vet's office - when she died -
he became mine. 1 other boy cockatiel (BooBooDuck) - who talks a little
but is quite clumsy, Gracie Lu - lutino cockatiel - sweet girl - loves me
like crazy and Sasha (a pied lutino cockatiel) - rescued from the jaws of an
American Bulldog. My four bunnies (LilyFleaBell-rescued from a flea market,
PuppyBun-found in a box on the side of the road - she's deaf, Tabitha Grace
and McGee - shelter bunnies I adopted) . I also have guinea pigs that all
came from some horrible place or another and a paralyzed hamster...
It's a fun happy busy harmonious place that keeps me busy (and I work two
jobs) - I don't travel or go away on vacation - I enjoy them more than
being away on any vacation. My pet sitters are FABULOUS...we're been friends
for 10 years.
Life is good at the Crittershack...I'm tired and broke - but at the end
of the day - I feel blessed that I have the health and the motivation to
keep going and thank the Good Lord that I was given every single little mouth
to feed.
Lynda

Hi Lynda, Well, I just don’t normally get colds. Haven’t had one since
right after my husband died, 4 yrs ago. This one came right after I lost
Bart (my blind Chihuahua). SO maybe it is stress related.

Organizational skills? Well, my shopping is getting easier all the time,
but not for a pleasant reason. I’m outliving all my family. Only a
brother and a very close friend are left. I do send out a lot of Christmas
cards
tho.

Glad to hear your new baby (Miss Charlotte) is doing well. I am waiting
to see what the Lord puts in my life next. You see all but 2 of my fur
babies are rescues from abusive situations. I just got 2 kittens spayed. The
previous owners were doing their best, but the kittens were very definitely
too thin. They are growing like weeds now. My cats are all indoors only,
so these girls will be spoiled rotten.

I have a grouch old parrot, Libby, a Senegal hen that has been with me so
long, I can’t remember when I got her. I got her because she tried to kill
every cock put in with her and hated people. But she loves me! We get
along great!

Tell me more about your other fur kids.

Good Morning Judy - it's good to hear that you are feeling yourself
again-how did you nip the cold? (since I've gotten a flu shot the last 3 years
-
I don't seem to catch things as easily). It's a pleasant temp in the Burgh
this a.m. - but raining - Charlotte wanted no parts of it.
This is my first Chihuahua Monday - what a delight she is and I can so
understand why people want more than one (altho having 3 dogs is plenty as I
have 3 indoor cats, 4 indoor bunnies and 6 birdies). If I had gotten
Charlotte first - I'd probably have 3 or more chi's. Charlotte will now need
to
start following my work schedule along with the rest of the crew...I think
she'll miss her mama - but pet sitter comes at lunch - so she'll have some
fun then. Only ONE accident off the pad yesterday-none this a.m. - and
she's only been home since Wed night!!! I'm blessed that I have a job that I
have plenty of vacation days and a flexible schedule. I think spending time
at home initially has helped her learn quicker.
YOU'RE DONE WITH YOUR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING?!!! I want your organizational
skills!!

Have a great day,
Lynda, Liza Jane, Timmy & Miss Charlotte

Good Monday morning !!
Well, I am feeling better. Got thru that cold in like half the
time of an average cold. God is good.

Updates on my fur babies: Nicky, Gabby, Becky are all using the papers
and/or pads. Hopefully the other 4 will learn to use them too. It makes
life a lot easier for me to just pick up the used papers/pads and put in the
waste than to get all the dogs outside and back inside before they get too
cold. Also in the dark I have to go find Gabby who hunkers down and hides.
Dirty feet track in a lot of mud and dirt which I have to vacuum up. Plus
the time to let the dogs out as opposed to having them tend to it without
my help.
I am going to Prescott for some shopping at Walmart today. No,
not Christmas shopping…I have that all done and the packages are sent. I
need a few things that I cannot get in the Safeway in Chino Valley.
I pray that you are all in good health and also your fur babies
are doing well. Please be safe and well.
