I haven't been on this group in awhile and was just checking in.  I saw the 
posts about Gigi.  One of my dogs was just diagnosed with a liver shunt.  
Gigi's behavior and seizures sure sound similar to a liver problem.  Especially 
the head pressing etc. and you've noticed that high protien is a problem.  
Sadly this can run in Chi's.  But, it is treatable and sometimes operable.  My 
Cait has this and recently started taking a form of Keppra.  Combined with 
perscription diet, I think it is helping.  You may want to have your vet run a 
bile acid test (for some reason most vets don't look for this disease).

I wish you the best in getting Gigi help.  I know how frustrating it can be to 
figure out what is wrong...
