My concern now is, if AVG doesn't recognize as a threat to prevent it from
coming on your computer, what's to safeguard any AVG user from getting
again? I want to prevent it from coming back! Anyone have any ideas??

My gosh what a nightmare Peggy. A couple of years ago I had something
similar where windows kept popping up and you couldn't close anything, etc.
Finally shut the whole computer down and had a tecky friend come over and he
got rid of it. I also use Malware Bytes in addition to my other security
program. I started using it after this problem. Just do an occasional scan
with it......it finds things others don't.

Glad you got it all cleaned up!

Hugs,
Linda

WARNING: PLEASE READ FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY!

This sucker is a horror!!! I haven't a clue how I got it, or why AVG didn't
prevent it from getting on my lap to begin with. The last thing that I was
on was MSN free games, and to be honest, that's where I think I got it from.
I left my lap for a couple of minutes and all soughts of things popped up on
my desk top. If you see this warning pop up on your desktop.......DO NOT
CLICK ON ANYTHING, EXCEPT TO IMMEDIATLY STOP IT FROM SCANNING YOUR COMPUTER.
QUICKLY CLOSE ALL WINDOWS.

It will say "Vista Security 2012 Firewall Alert" It is BOGUS!!! It will
take over your Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. It will block your
Security from opening to do a scan. It will take over your Browser so you
can't search for a fix or click on anything. All you will see in your
Browser is a warning to do a scan or buy the BOGUS "Vista Security 2012
Firewall Alert"

I didn't go to bed until 7am this morning trying to get rid of it. I finally
found a back way to open up AVG and scanned, that took 1 and 3/4 hours and
it said everything was safe! But the bugs were still popping up on my
desktop and I still couldn't troubleshoot the web to get rid of it.

You will see about 9 Bogus Windows open on your desktop, all have the
Windows LOGO, all appear to be genuine. One even list all the supposedly
virus's, worms, Trojans, etc that you have and list the names of them and
what components and files it has supposedly corrupted. Another one will say
that you have been hijacked. Your Windows defender and firewall will pop up
and show that all security is turned off and it will not allow you to change
anything unless you click for it to scan and accept it's Bogus service. DON
T CLICK ON ANY OF IT, JUST X OUT OF IT.

Go into Start, click on INTERNET EXPLOYER-NO ADD-ONS, (the bogus Vista
Security can't get on that, because you don't have any add-ons to allow it
on). Go to Cnet and download 'Malwarebytes Anti Malware" It is a free trial
and the only software that got it out of my system. I tried 2 other
softwares and they didn't find anything. Malwarebytes scanned for a lot
longer then AVG does and it scanned a lot more objects. During the scan,
Malwarebytes said that it was being blocked and I had to click 'quarantine a
couple of times, so don't leave your computer while it is scanning. My full
scan was 2 and 1/2 hours! But it found 7 infected objects and got rid of
them all. I intend to keep it on my lap.
