That describes Cody perfectly. He is a tub of love.

I have also heard that minpins are very food oriented and they do get fat if
the owners are not especially diligent about watching what goes in their mouths.

That’s true. However, my pug was very heavy when the vet first saw her. Pugs
are notorious for being food pigs according to my vet. My chug is about right,
but she is not yet full grown. My PIG (pug and Italian Greyhound is still
skinny as a rail.

Pugs and Chugs have the bigger bone structure. They may not be overweight,
just that they are a different build than the purebred Chihuahuas.

Pam, I have a couple of those “sausages” but they are not purebred Chihuahuas.
My purebreds are skinny as rails. The pug, the chug and a chiXJack Russell
are the sausages. I was warned by the vet not to hurry them about losing, but
to just feed the recommended amount. She said they will slowly lose weight.

I dont think she will get much bigger..I have had a few tinies..got to love
em..Bino is six years old now and he is pretty consistent with his
weight..actually weighing exactly the same for three years now. I would say
she will fill in a bit as she matures but probably wont get much over 3 1/2.
Of course I am very strict with the food on my dogs..no people food..and
measuring quantity. I think it is so sad to see little obese chihuahuas that
look like sausages on stubby legs. As a breed they have such beautiful bone
structure..shame to cover it with fat rolls.
