Dolly is 7-8 lbs and Desi is around 9 lbs. Each of them get ¼ of the 25 mg Benadryl caplet make sure you dont get the capsules.
I have to take Dolly on Thursday for her follow up, so I will ask him then what it would be for smaller or bigger. Desi also gets very runny eyes when he is outside, so when that happens he gets a quarter of a Benadryl, too. Mandy is 17-18 lbs, and she said she is supposed to give her ¾ of a Benadryl. That works out to what I believe my vet said For 6lbs, you do 6mg Mandy is 17-18 lbs, so she would get 18 or ¾ of one caplet. I will verify that is the formula, but also find out about less than 6 lbs. At first I was told to give a certain amount of Childrens Benadryl. Dolly really didnt like it, I think it was too sweet for her and she is a bit picky. It seems like the Childrens Benadryl they got a good amount, so perhaps my vet will tell me the formula for the smaller ones with the liquid Childrens Benadryl. I think they have chewable for kids but not sure. Normally, using a syringe works out well, except Dolly hated the Cherry Benadryl! I just remember I would get done giving her a dose and I had some on my clothes and my hands were so sticky, and then after the vet said I could give her the caplets, it was a huge relief. I have to use pill pockets for her. I bought some FlavorDough from Doggy Loot one day and it comes in a little tub. It is not as thick as pill pockets and it is a whole lot less. I can use just a tiny bit for Desi and I use a little more for Dolly when it was the Tramadol and Rimadyl not her favorite flavors, and I would imagine it must have been very bitter. I am going to have to look up where I can buy more of the flavor dough I really like it much better. I hope that this helps for now.
