There are some ‘ask a vet’ websites. I know that I went to ask a question one
night and they didn’t want much…in fact I think that you can say that you can
only pay $$$ and one of the vets could answer your question.

If Jewell is eating normally, then she should be pooping the same quantity that
she has been in the past. If it is just a little blackish diarrhea, then I
would spend the small amount of $$ to at least as a vet online. Sorry…I don’t
have any experience in all of this.

Diana,

The vet’s here have only one criteria – how much money have you got?

It could cost $200 to $300 to find what is wrong and then find out is
untreatable. Or treatable and would cost $200 or more to treat. I cannot
afford that. At 13 she won’t be with me much longer. The vets here charge
$150 to $200 just to euthanize a dog. An office visit is $100. I had a nice
savings account just for the pets, but along came Parvo (I’d had Becky just 1
day and then it struck) That set me back $800. Then there was boostering all
my other pets, getting 3 cats and 1 dog spayed and vaccinated – over $200 - and
then Bart had to be put to sleep – another $200. The savings account is gone,
as well as my credit cards maxed and my own savings account empty. I break a
leg now, I’s better just shoot myself.

I have her on boiled rice and hamburger now. She is still eating well. I’m in
no rush as long as she is not in pain.

I would not have your dog put to sleep if you do not know "Exactly" what is
wrong. Maybe there is something really simple wrong. Do you know any vets in
your area?? I know our vet will help out a stranded dog, a dog situation, etc.
etc. for free..

Or can you check around at shelters for a free dog check up, run an ad
somewhere for help. I live in a small town and posting a note others would help.

Keep us posted and much love and many prayers, Diana

Jewell was my husband’s dog and so has a very special meaning and attachment to
me. She is at least 13 yrs old.

For 3 days she has had a low grade black diaherrea. Not squirting, just a few
dribbles. I looked up what that could mean and it says internal bleeding. She
ate well this morning and both meals the other 2 days. She just lays on the
couch all day, except when I take her out. She does not appear to be in pain.

Now here is the rest of my problem. I’ve had one emergency after another which
has drained my resources down to nothing. Credit cards are maxed out, checking
account is overdrawn. I am NOT asking for money. I just want to know if you
think I should put her to sleep when my check comes in if she has not improved.
