Yes he has pain pills.  He has been sleeping so heavy I haven't tried to give him any so far..Will probably before I go to bed..

I understand, I too didn't think of having the Pedialyte and Nutra Cal in the house before Gigi's surgery. That's why I mentioned it. Now I always keep a box of the Powdered Pedialyte in the house, it has a years shelf life and it comes in individual packets so you can make one glass at a time.   Maybe the hubby could run up to the supermarket or drug store and pick it up for him?! I too have the donut soft collars for my girls. It's better that they sleep a lot, then they won't feel any pain. Did they give you pain killers for him? Such a poor baby! My heart cries for him too. Pam, don't forget to give him NutralCal a couple of times per day. It will balance out his electrolytes that he is loosing with all that has been done to him and will prevent his sugar from dropping from the anesthesia. Also keep some Pedialyte available in case he doesn't drink enough water.    I know you mentioned that they gave him flea meds, but did he actually have fleas? Maybe the brown patches are scabs from him scratching so much. Did they give you a cone collar?   I think all of us who have ever adopted a shelter dog that was down and out, can relate to what you and he are going through. When I got Princess she was 7 pounds underweight from those nasty worms that just consumes all of a dogs natural nutrients, and the whip worm made her fur fall out by the handfuls. It took almost 6 months for her to gain that weight, once the worms were finally gone.   Tomorrow's Vet visit will be interesting that's for sure, and more prayers being sent that he doesn't find anything serious, but only needs a lot of lov'in and good food and simple meds.   Hugs, and give that baby an extra hug and smooch from me!           -------Original Message-------   From: Pam Dean Date: 2/15/2012 6:02:24 PM To: Chihuahuas@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] He made it..     Well we are home.  Man, he is so much worse than I even thought.  Emaciated isn't the word for him..beyond that.  Dark crusty patches everywhere..cough..It is amazing he survived the last two days..between the shots and the neutering, much less life until now.  But he amazingly sweet..still wagging his tail and giving kisses..and craves being touched.  Makes me cry Judy too just looking at him.  Of course the County vet did not do a pre blood work or even give him a bath.  How sterile is that for God's sake?? He will have to wait now because of the neutering other than a wash cloth bath tomorrow.  He goes to my Vet tomorrow morning..I will feel so much better when I know what we are facing instead of imagining all sorts of terrible things.  But he is eating..well..like the starving guy he is.  Cant give him much tonight but tomorrow he can have more.  He is curled all up in his bed with his head on his toy monkey sound asleep. He is home but has a long way to go..
